My first entry--

I've been trying to lose weight on and off for several years now. The last successful attempt I had was around 10 years ago when I dropped about 30 pounds. I've been hyper-conscious of my weight and looks for years and years. A lot of my family is overweight, or obese. Only a handful have taken their fitness into their own hands and succeeded. I admire them greatly. I love myself dearly, and it really only occurred to me to take this very seriously again when I began "lurking" a sub-reddit of progress picture. Seeing actual people succeeding and all of the encouragement from that community built me up again. That's why I'm here and I need you help. I'll help you too in any way I can.

Here's a little bit about me:

I'm a 28 year old female who's also a chef and pastry chef. I love food-probably too much. I've also always been interested in nutrition and am completing a course in Nutritional Therapy in late 2014. I've switched to an almost completely organic/local diet. I think I'm going to try working with a high protein diet with moderate fat and carbs in the form on beans and veg. I'm cutting out alcohol, smoking, and all that other fun-but-makes-you-look-and-feel-like-hell business. I'm aiming to work out 4-5 times a week at a local Planet Fitness focusing primarily on weight -lifting and resistance machines.

I'll post in a couple of weeks with my 2-wk side by sides.
