I am a firm believer that a low fat diet is the key to success. When you take into account that both carbs and protein have 4 calories per gram and fat has 9, it's pretty evident, cut out at least half your fat and you are saving a bunch of calories. It also helps to understand seasoning, and condiments. Relishes, pickles, sweet pepper spreads, tapenades, vinegars, lemon juice, hot sauce, there are plenty of options for flavor. I will eat canned tuna with mustard and sweet pickle relish instead of mayonnaise, and I really like it. Plenty of protein, and next to no fat. Of course the body needs fat, so I make it a priority to add good fat to my diet........nuts, fish, olive oil.
If you write down a list of your favorite flavors you can start to build a list of seasonings that will help spice up your diet. Quality of flavor can really enhance your eating experience.
