Is it weird that this has become my public happy place? Let's face it, I have a bit of secrecy here as opposed to facebook or my Mommy group. I chose FatSecret because unlike other websites that scan your email and automatically emails your friends, FS does not. Thank goodness. At the end of the day, I am accountable to myself. I have to look in the mirror everyday, I have to put on my clothes and pray I can reach the laces of my shoes. I can you all that because frankly, if you saw me on the street, you would not know me, and I am fine with that. My FB page has become a circus as of late. I am sure most of yours have as well. I don't have to tell you how politics, religion and all those other topics that civilized people do not discuss at the dinner table and started to dominate our lives. I have become fat due to my own doing and a bit of misguided nutritional advise that I embraced. After years and years of reading and trying different "diets" and my "degree" in nutrition, I have come to the conclusion that possibly our ancestry dictates more of how are bodies respond to food than many would like to think. For example, I have a strong Swedish heritage, sure, I am a mixed mutt at the end of the day but if you look at the normal diet of my ancestors, you would find that they survived on fat and fatty fish with few other variances, there are folks out there that thrive on carby goodness, I can look at a grain of rice and gain four pounds. I lost 60 pounds the October before last and then I did something really stupid. I let life and my emotions get in the way. Fast forward through hcg drops, low cal, low fat and several paleo books later, oh, and a job change, I am back on the low carb, high fat bandwagon. This is week 2 of being back in the saddle and from up here, things look great. I am starting to feel good again and it feels good to take control once again. Those are my thoughts for the day, time to get back to work!
