Workout #42 of 2013: Went for the usual 5k run to the highway and back. PR of 31:27. Yeah, baby. It's paying off. I've lost a few pounds and have gained noticeable endurance. My usual goal is 34:00, which I don't routinely hit.
The key positive change seemed to be at 9:27, going down the big hill and actually having the stamina to use gravity to my advantage and go fast (by my standards) down the hill, getting to the highway by 14:29, which is probably also a PR. Gravity: Occasionally it's on your side. So, going out fast didn't hurt me. Then a fast walk up the same hill kept it going. I really only need to walk fast a minute or two, then can run again.
I've also got myself convinced that a certain stretch of the road is downhill both ways. I know that can't be true. It's like some kind of optical illusion or something. But I speed up there coming and going.
I also felt looser overall, which helped. Today was my day for running.
