As a young woman who is only looking to lose a little weight (enough to go down a size or so) - you have soooo many things you CAN do - regardless of how your grandmother responds. Try to be positive when you interact w/ her regarding food. Try to let her know you are trying to 'learn' about good, healthy 'nutrition'. Remind her often of how much you love everything she does for you... including how much LOVE she puts into her cooking! Help her out in the kitchen (with the intent to watch, take mental notes, and LEARN). Meanwhile, make lean proteins, loads of veggies, and seasonal fruit - the mainstay of your eating! TRACK your foods on here daily. If you have the cake...have a moderate piece. But build it into your daily food goals. Drinking a lot of water throughout the day should become a regular and lifelong habit. And of course, increasing your activity. There are so many videos, ideas, and items available to you to do 'at home'. From walking, to dance - or biking and swimming, - or even just doing stairclimbing or pushups on your knees. TRACK your daily exercise also. Start out w/ 10-20 min's ea day. You sound like you are already 'healthy' but are just looking to slenderize and tone. Pay attention and work on these things every day for the next 6-8 weeks, and you should make great progress!!! Great job so far!! Just know that no one here wants to see you go down the road of being 'overly concerned' w/ your size or weight - as they fear you could develop a problem. That's the greatest advantage of YOUTH! A little exercise and some portion control can easily solve your issues. Much Love.

jsfantome, that's nice advice thanks :) thanks for helping. i will ask my granny can i help her more. i already have to help a bit. I pod the peas and string the beans and stuff. i like water and ribena. is that ok? i like playing outside. i don't wanna be very skinny, just not too big. i'm tall as well, so i look just big :(

I hear the low sugar version of Ribena is a better choice. But drinking anything w/ a lot of sugar (like a juice or soda) is not the BEST choice. Look for your BEST choice in every situation! How goes the exercise around the house? Are you keeping busy!

I ate cupcakes yesterday. Although, I only ate the frosting and the top layer of the cupcakes, so I practiced delicious moderation. Aaaaaaaand balanced the sugary sweetness by working out later! Depriving yourself of things you like is a recipe for failure!

i'm not sure what it is jsfantome, i will have a look. my granny also makes it herself, i don't know what she puts in her squash. i will ask her that. Chris, that's my FAV part of any cake!!!the icing!!! i LOVE buttercream!!and my granny bakes nearly everyday, and she's very good, so that's not helpful :( that's good news, anyway, i'm not very good at depriving! :) jsfantome, yes, i do keep busy. i have to do lots of chores. :/
