tatauu22's Journal, 12 Mar 20

Good morning FS. Today, I'm just a tad bit sore (well more than a tad..lol) from yesterdays workout. I increased the weights, went longer and am feeling it today. I'm going to get with the trainer and have him help me with a program. I really have no clue as to do some of the things that could be very helpful overall. I am very hungry this morning.
After time change, my body has decided it wants to wake up at 3:30-4 instead of 5-6ish. I went the other way. Works well on gym mornings but the other mornings just sucketh.
I went to Walmart this morning because I needed laundry detergent and dish soap. Both of those items were almost out. We should be concerned, take precautions yes, but the mass panic is not helping anyone.
If any of you have Sirius, they have channel 121 to answer questions, debunk myths, give out facts by actual doctors and scientist. For those without Sirius,it is on a public information channel for free. I'm not sure how to get to that though. Be careful, be cautious. Don't listen to the majority of the media who is causing the panic. JMO for what it's worth.
Be kind.

It’s not the media. They are reporting the facts. The CV is growing exponentially and the only areas where it is slowing are areas that are on mandated quarantine. Our cases in the US are growing exponentially and it’s only a matter of time until we are all on mandated quarantines. Yes, don’t panic, but we have to face the reality of what this virus is and how it will affect our lives.

L2E, I'm am being realistic. It will spread, of that I have no doubt. There will be a ton of other cases and precautions should be taken. What I'm talking about is why does someone need 6 months worth of toilet paper, paper towels, etc.

L2E, must disagree. Look at the number of people who died from the flu each year. From Oct. 19, 2019 - Feb. 1, 2020, the number was 30,000, including children. Who are the people dieing? Those 80 and over or those with pre-existing conditions. We listen to our media, British media, and Italian media. All are all COVID-19 all the time. And with the WHO announcing a pandemic, the fear has increased. Yes, take precautions. Yes, get tested if you have flu like symptoms. Be prepared, but don't panic. Look at Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson...in there 60s, tested positive, are on isolation, and not getting worse. Tom Hanks is 63 with Type 2 diabetes. You can't stop living your life, take precautions.

Erq, there is mass panic. I'm doing what I can, not planning on going out of town, no crowded events. And yes, get tested if you need to. CV is highly contagious no doubt, take precautions

My take on this is it is not the 80+ years old people who are not out and about contaminating each other. It is the younger and more mobile who are taking the virus into the publlc. Those who died in the Kirkwood area nursing home did not take this into their environment. As younger healthier individuals you may feel safer but every step you take impacts the lives of others. Whether it is with this or any other contagious deadly virus. Have a safe good day !

It is not the flu! The problem with COVID-19 is that we need to prevent a lot of people getting sick at the same time. The hospitals can't handle a large influx of people. The numbers (in other countries) show right now that 1% dies which means 3 million, not 30.000 in the USA. 15 to 20% needs to be hospitalized which means 60 million people. There are only 1 million beds here, and even less respiratory machines. Doctors in Italy have to chose whom to admit and whom to refuse sentencing that person to death. The panic is caused by misinformation, falsehoods, and denying there is a problem.

There is a good read here on why we, as individuals, must each do our part to slow the spread. It is called "flatten the curve" and they also implemented this approach with SARS. Effectively, if you can slow the progression, resources can better handle it. That's why you have to practice good hygiene, not panic and not contribute to the spread. If we all do our part, it really will help. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/11/science/coronavirus-curve-mitigation-infection.html

BTW, putting wipes in Ziplock bags on your person is a great, inexpensive way to protect yourself and others. Shop and wipe down your hands as you get into the car. Unload, wipe down your hands again.

Silkian and Katsolo- Exactly right! This is contagious and deadly and is spread by individuals who have disregarded the health and welfare of other individuals and their families and friends.

I’d say that if you can’t tread everyone that has it, there’s a massive problem worthy of reporting. People want to know what’s happening, but then blame “the media”? Panic, misinformation, and hysteria are in the comments on Facebook, not the stories. It’s in the hearts of individuals and not the media.

Just call me Bob!

Well, panic and hysteria does burn calories, so there's that. Otherwise, not my gig. Counterproductive. #teambob
