Made it through a holiday weekend without blowing the diet or feeling deprived, and I think that's a big accomplishment...especially since we ate out Friday, Saturday, and today. I really am learning to make the right choices and enjoy eating socially -- and that's a big step, I think. So much of socialization involves eating, so it can be a challenge -- and in more ways than one. I have friends who are obese and even diabetic. When I go out with them now, I have to be careful, because even a discussion with a waitress about the alternatives available for the rice or potatoes can cause discomfort to others. I am not and do not judge them, but it's clear that I have to be very low key about my diet if I want to continue to socialize with these friends.
