Chris1979's Journal, 19 Aug 10

Okay this is me trying to get out of my funk. I'm restarting Phase 1 South Beach on Monday morning. I will be at the beach again this weekend celebrating my brother's 29th birthday with my family.

I finally have what I think is a pretty awesome deal to share (Bailey, you know you are going to need smaller clothes with how great you've been doing!!!) Today's deal on Groupon, through late tonight, is a $50 gift certificate to the Gap for $25!!! That's better than the employee discount (I know, I once worked there lol). If you go to Groupon.com you will immediately see the deal. You just sign up and they give you the voucher to print out and viola, great deal!

I'm still not feeling like "me" today so I apologize for the brevity of this journal entry. I just feel like other people (virtually all of my buddies!!!) are able to COMMIT to losing weight and I just get tripped up left and right.

You may not be feeling yourself yet but you will!!! I'm glad you are writing ... I think it is important especially when we are in a funk. At least it is for me. And ... ahem!!! I have been hanging out around the same weight for months and months and months and months and months!!! I still have not seen 175!!! So ... you are NOT the only one who struggles my dear

Don't worry about what others are doing, worry about YOU! You are strong enough to do this. Look at every other aspect of your life, you do so well. School, work, saving money with coupons. What do you do differently there that you aren't doing here? Make a to-do list. I can tell, you're a list maker (I am too!) Make a list of things you do that "trip you up." Then make a list of things you can combat those things. You CAN in fact, do this. You have an entire community behind you. Keep your chin up!

I think it would be really helpfull for you to set and date and goal, and really try to stick to it. Make it a game for yourself, ya know. You know you can do this - someone whos smart enough to be a LAWYER can do it! I know how hard it is when work and school and just trying to live your life... I really think scheduling is the key. Anyway, have a great Thursday, and thanks for the tip on The Gap. I'm not really into their clothes, but they have some cute stuff for kids! Have a good one!!!

Chris although it may appear that others don't get tripped up, rest assured we all do at one time or another. This isn't a race or a contest. It is about getting healthy and living a good life, and we all travel this journey at different paces, and reach our goals at different times. Heck, even our goals are different. I needed to lose 118 pounds, someone else needed to lose only 20. I can't tolerate sugar or carbs, someone else can eat them in moderation and do just fine. Every single person's journey is different and when you compare yourself to others, you are selling yourself short. You are unique and special, and as such, your journey will be unique and special to YOU!! So embrace yourself, love yourself, and take this journey at YOUR speed!! After all, it is YOUR life!

Chris stop right now. I know we can't help the way we feel however please please please do not feel like that. We all get tripped up every now and then. You are just as committed as we are. Look you are here. You write your journal. You comment on ours. It is all part of the process. Things may be tough for you right now but they will get better and you will get through this. Even if you have to start over a million times. We are here for you and we care about you and you will succeed. Please think of that every time you want to quit and think of us and how much we care about you. Hugs and cheer up lady!

Hi Chris. I read your previous journals and saw you fell of the SB wagon. I so understand the way you feel right now. but you know, challenges are called like this because they are not easy. You experienced a family dinner, with all kind of tempting foods, and it was not a long time you were commited to SB meal plan. The only thing not to do is to give up. Take your time, come back to yourself. Think about the "why" of being on here, the meaning of your weight loss. Take one day at the time and don't put too much pressure on yourself. A commitment is a long term thing. That doesn't mean you will be perfect each day for ever, but that you know where you want to go, and if you slip one day you get back to it the next. Take care Chris!

chris- I wont lie- I wish you were still doing sb with me- I really liked the idea of someone somewhere else in the world partnering up with me:) but shit happens:) and you have to do what you have to do. We all go through this stuff and sometimes we just have to give in to what our bodies are asking for. I really hope you are not beating yourself up. Have your birthday party and then we will be back on the same sb team on monday:) I have lots of cool recipes to share with you and maybe make it easier for you for the first two weeks. You are going to do great, and thank you for the shout out- I am try ing really hard, so hopefully I can use that coupon:) have a great night and talk soon:)
