Do what you think is going to make "YOU" feel better! If you feel like its time to lose weight, by all means, you will be ready and embrace that commitment and wake up that morning and go through with it. If you feel like your husband is hinting than just tell him that you are going to start making healthier choices. Maybe tell him that you are going to quit something like drinking soda and commit to it. He will love to hear that you are going to get healthier and he will probably follow suit too! Your health is the most important part of your life and if you don't take charge in it, it will progressively change. I hope this inspires you to take the best care of yourself, but you know best what you need.. 💛💛💛

People generally don't like change so your son and husband need to get used to the new you as you also learn to accept the new you. Keep doing what you think is best for you.

The most important opinion to consider is your own. What do YOU think. It is your body and your life. If your choice makes you happy, then that will make you a better mother and a better wife. 🌈🌈🌈

What if it isn't weight, but tone? I have a friend whose husband was fine with the size, but he didn't super like just how untoned her arms were. She started doing some simple exercises and they toned better... Just an idea of what this dissatisfaction could be about. However, I'm very sorry you feel that way. And we're proud of you for your weight loss!!

As of yesterday, I weighed 190.8. I carry my weight well and do not appear to be that heavy. The reason I can't do anything is that I am in an advanced stage 4 of degenerative disc disease. My entire spine is crumbling away. It's so severe, surgery isn't an option. I was hoping that dropping to my ideal weight of 168 would help. My husband keeps telling me that I am not fat and he's very helpful with my condition.

Good news! The Obesity Code by Dr. Fung sites research that exercise is not effective for weight loss. The "Calories in Calories Out" belief is not backed by science. What makes us gain and keep weight is a hormonal response of insulin when we eat. By limiting carbs-not eating bread, pasta, sweets and high car veggies and legumes we can limit insulin response. So I have faith in you. You can continue to lose weight without exercise. Of course exercise is still good for other things and there are chair exercises, Isometrics and strength exercises which don't require standing and can help maintain and build muscle.

Ruthe, in spite of Dr. Fung's statement, CICO is, in fact, backed by science. In fact, it is backed by very basic science. Of course, there are sometimes other factors that play a part, but over time, if you want to gain weight, you MUST increase your caloric intake to greater than your output; and if you want to lose weight, you must do the opposite.

Hi Sue, I just wanted to say I am so sorry about your back. My mom too has degenerative disc disease. She has struggled with weight her whole life but has over the last few years made a huge effort to lose. Because of losing weight she is in much less pain and is able to move more freely. She can't eat a lot, but then she can't do a lot of exercise. To lose, like, shirfleur said, there has to be cico in some way or another. I am glad you feel supported by your husband and son. I am sure they just want you to feel the best you can and be healthy. Hang in there!!

Weight loss is 90% or more due to what you eat; it's difficult to exercise enough to lose. Example: 1 mile = 100 calories = 1 tablespoon of butter. People with lots of muscles have a higher base metabolic rate, so some of them assume exercise = weight loss.
