So I have battled my weight all my life always watching fat grams and calories. I have a few friends that have been on the Keto diet and it has worked for them to lose some weight so two weeks ago I decided to give it a try. It’s something I have to battle in my mind because I see all the fat and the food ( bacon, cheese, burgers, sausage etc) I think I can’t eat that and loose weight and am I gonna have a heart attack?! Lol

So I do miss my carbs and dessert ALOT! But I’m gonna keep at it and see how it pans out. I have noticed that working out I’m sluggish. I hope that changes when my body adjusts. If you are doing the Keto diet I’d love to follow you. I’ll be weighing in next week. Fingers crossed I see some results.

Oh, and it's not all "butter in your coffee" and bacon with every meal. As you learn the keto woe, you'll eat a lot of healthy green leafy vegetables, healthy fats like nuts, avocado, evoo, healthy fatty fish like salmon and mackerel, and you can enjoy desserts. Berries with HWC and a bit of monk fruit sweetener is one of my favorites. Keto on!

I agree with everyone, focus on cooking with healthy fats and try not to overdo adding on dairy fats either. Nuts and seeds are also good. Veggies every meal for fiber. Eat quality protein if you can. Drink electrolyte water. KCKO!

Dittoes, Keto-Heads! Redskins Kelly, I just followed you. Happy to have another fellow-traveler along! I know what your mean about all the high-fat food. Two years ago, I could not IMAGINE eating this way. So, coming from a very-high-carb habit, I started out with LCHF at 100g total carbs/day. Lately, to address T2 diabetes and get off meds, I'm focused mostly on keto/carnivore with just a few carbs on most days. (I have to be very careful about both nuts and butter, because I can mainline both of them.)

@RedskinsKelly, Dr. Ken D. Berry has a whole series -- "Keto 101" -- on YouTube. He's a plain-speaking native Tennessean, Board-certified family practitioner, who practices what he preaches: A pre-diabetic, 300-pound doctor who's now in great shape, going from paleo to keto to carnivore. I also heartily endorse dietdoctor.com for its wide range of infp, from rationale with scientific citations, food lists, recipes, menu suggestions. And Berry and DD.com are all free. (DietDoctor.com does have a $9/mo pay side. I subscribe because I want to support their work.)

I do keto!!! I like it. I do not know how hard you work out but it will get easier. There are many keto lifters out there with great success. I do running, walking, biking, swimming and other stuff without any problem. Around day 4 or so you will be somewaht adjusted

Finally, Jason Fung's books, "The Obesity Code," "The Diabetes Code," and "The Complete Guide to Fasting," are great resources. He also has YouTube videos that provide great info.

Stay away from constantly eating the processed meats. A good balance of healthy fats, proteins, veggies and some fruits. No direct sugars and breads should only be whole grains. Listen to folks like Rosio 19, Chrisw77, Miraculum, Draglist and so so many others here. Find your balance and follow it. Diets are like opinions, mine works for me and yours works for you. There are no definite diet processes here just slot of great advice and support. Good luck and God Bless. I always have time to chat and listen🙋

I'm not sure if your diet is causing sluggish feeling during workouts or if you consume too little food. Maybe a review of dietary needs given your exercise level is needed. You may or may not find a diet rich in fats to be the problem more then a lack of calories. Have you dieted in the past? I'm not sure what battled means hence the question.

You are doing great! I don't do/have an opinion n keto, but stick with it. Consistency brings results.

Keto, done right, usually kicks up my energy level and keeps me from being "dopey" during the day. OTOH, because I'm sedentary and very insulin resistant/carb-sensitive, high carb consumption will spike my BS into the mid 200s and put me right to sleep in the middle of the day. That's consistent with what I've read of others' experiences (testimonials on other websites like Fung's and Berry's). Like Terrapin12 said, going too low in calories can impact your energy level. Make sure you're getting plenty of protein (0.8-1.25g per lb of lean body mass). If there's more room in your calorie limit, increase your fat consumption.

Not my path, but a lot of people find keto to be a more workable way to achieve a caloric deficit. I hope it works for you and you’ll find plenty of people here who can give you more specific advice! ❤️

The carb cravings diminish or disappear the less of them you eat, so stick with it. You may find you love the way you feel and the freedom from cravings!

Low carb high fat here. I'll probably get back to keto attempt next month. Of course, that's what I said last month. Hmmm.

Please be careful to include dietary fiber in some form. Either lots of leafy greens or a supplement. An extreme version of this diet put me in the hospital with a perforated intestine.

Thank you all for all the great advise and support. I’m still trying to get familiar with this app so if I miss something I’m sorry. I appreciate all the references to check out to help educate me on this journey. I do feel more full on Keto then I ever have on low fat low calorie diets. I workout mostly power walking, swimming, a little biking, and a little weights but I hate the gym. So I’m an outdoors girl! Happy Labor Day to you all. May you all enjoy the day and stay focused on your eating regimen!!

I love the outdoors as well. A lot of my exercise takes place there. Happy labour day to you as well.
