Could you prepare some one-hand meals you could eat on the way to work, like eggs cooked in a muffin tin or something like that, so you wouldn't be so hungry at work. Or do some meal prep in advance and take breakfast to work?

Don’t cook so much and there will be no left overs

Its not me cooking lol. I work with people living in group homes and there is always leftovers when other employees cook

When i cook at the homes, i only cook enough servings for each individual in the home plus myself or other employees present. If an individual still feel like they want more food, i offer them liquids like water or juice to see if they still feel hungry afterwards. But most employees make huge amounts of food, then have like 5 days of leftovers from each thing they prepared. They never get eaten and it just bothers me to see that much food go to waste.

I have a self-imposed rule that I will only eat free food if it was bought/prepared for me. At my workplace it’s leftover pizza from lunch meetings at 1 pm and me having a 2nd lunch. 🍕 (Initially I refused all free food but now I’ll have max 2slices if I’m in that meeting.) It’s a “rule” because it’s hard and a constant struggle for me though.

You are what you eat. You are not just some leftover. Stay focused! (I can totally use my own advise right now, too) 😆

Cheza- Yes- work in a 4 bed- make an entire cake... WTH? Last time I lasted 2 days and then day 3 I ate the last two pieces. It sucked because it was- by that time- 3 days old. LOL. What you can do is see if any of them want it in their lunches and then really talk to your coworkers about not making more than is needed for the people who live there and themselves. I don't know how it will go over but if your supervisor is soing the food ordering he/she would probably appreciate the lower cost!

Also- If we have a bag of chicken- for example- we portion it out into freezer bags and divide it into meals. 10 pieces for the 8 bed and 2 staff, 5 pieces for the 4 bed and 1 staff. If they want extra- it can be fruit or veggies...

Me too! I work at a frozen yogurt shop and we sell cookies and other goodies. Every night I close it’s a struggle to not take them home

Lol yeah, it is very difficult since al food on the third day at midnight must legally be thrown away. I dont purchase any of the food for the homes, but i do encourage our house managers to portion things, buy smaller pieces of meat, only package enough for each scheduled meal.. many employees sadly seem to think that the amounts that are actually what someone should be eating, is not what they think someone should eat. One of the homes is doing alot better on portions control, while the other, well lets just say individuals think that 3 boxes of mac an cheese needs to be prepared for lunch for two individuals. Our company policy allows for employees to be served a free meal while they are cooking the meals for individuals since shifts can last up to 13 hours. Because of such long shifts we offer all employees this meal option. I really try to inform people that they need to try to portion control while cooking to help make a better example for those they cook for, along with not wasting food. But not a lot of people actually understand this. Even when food is preportuoned, some believe more should be prepared.

All I hear is you blaming others

Take responsibility and control, stop being the homes trash can.

Apparently you didn't read anything. Im not blaming anyone. I said i want to eat it, bot that i do. Im just explaining why theres so much food present. And it is very frustrating watching food go to waste, money being, and so on. When i see the food, yes i want to eat it, but i dont. If im working a 12-20 hour shift, with. O breaks/lunch break. Yeah im going to eat something or i would end up puking and bot being able to operate. But i dont eat every little thing i see. The temptation is definitely there.
