I hope you start to feel better! Pain is a trigger for my eating! Take care.

When I feel out of control with pain, I remind myself to focus on what I can control, and that is my intake. I know how it feels to be so irritated by everything around you when you are overwhelmed with your body. Having that mindset has really helped me over the last year and a half. Take care of yourself and come up with some mental tactics that doesn't lead you to self medicating with food.

So sorry you're hurting! I gained 45 lbs after my concussion, so be careful about self-sabotage!

I can identify --have suffered with back surgery and issues for 25 years. In addition to all you mentioned, I find hot packs provide immediate relief and if you keep it on and off, it really lessens length and severity of pain. Don't give in to it --you can do this.

Stress and pain would do that. Call a friend or go for a walk. I was walking to a chocolate store when I called a friend. He reminded me of my goal and that stopped me from getting the delicious omg cake.

I know where you're coming from, @laraae! You have my sympathy! I hurt my back - just a "small" L4-5 disc herniation - years ago. The pain would take my breath away, and Flexeril did nothing for it. I refused surgery, opting instead for acupuncture with a skilled Chinese medicine practitioner, and American woman who is also a chiropractor. It took months and a lot of patience. I'll keep you in my prayers. May you heal soon!

I’m glad your back is starting to feel better and good for you catching yourself before things get out of hand. I know exactly how that goes and I really admire you for journaling this as your going through it, when things like this happen to me, I just shut down and stop communicating, which probably makes it harder to come back from. I’m thinking about you and hope you’re back to feeling great very soon! 💕

It’s rough to get exercise and cook when you’re injured. I hope your issues aren’t compounded with quack medical advice. Feel better soon! ❤️

Thanks for the support and sweet comments; they really do help. 🥰 Took the dogs for a short walk last night, and that went well. Only a small “twinge” about halfway through. PT should help this morning, especially since it’s supposed to rain here later. I’ll take your suggestions to heart, and thanks again for being here for me; you all are the best! 😊🥰

I'm hoping PT helps tremendously. That's good on only the small twinge. Back pain is just horrible to deal with. Hugs

Oh I am so sorry! You poor dear. I know how hard it can be. I've struggled my whole life as the result of an accident nearly breaking my neck as a teen. But, this spring I hurt my back and could hardly move or breathe for a week... Then I knew real pain. Thankfully, it got better. Our bodies do repair so much! Good for you for talking about your choices with food you wish you hadn't made. We are here to hear and just care. I hope you feel much, much better soon. Take your time and let yourself heal... Don't push activity more than walking too much!

Thank you for thinking of me. 😊 I’m feeling much better now, and did some walking and some light lifting at our rec-plex today for the first time in a week. I’m sorry to hear about your accident, Melissa; I’m glad you recovered. I know old injuries can still flare up, and they’re definitely not fun. 😬
