Discpain's Journal, 17 Aug 19

I have been on the losing weight journey so many times. Only this time I have a couple of people supporting me. This time I am only eating when hungry. Not eating when stressed is a big challenge for me. Keeping track of what I eat is going to make me more accountable. Plus if I can print out my food diary I can show my Dietician what I have been doing.
I do have a really bad habit of letting my emotions control my behavior. I applied for a received a free cell phone. All the people who kept telling me to get one & they would text me. Guess what? No one texts, Nada!
I think I will have a tuna salad for dinner, maybe.

Don't worry about them! Do it for you because you have to! Pick yourself up and fight for yourself and change who you are here! We will support you here! I will add you and we can help you. It might only be a comment every day or so but it takes me no time to write it and encourage you. I quit drinking soda and eating fast food and quit snacking. That helped tremendously. I quit doing things one at a time though. Be sure to find out what works best for you and believe in yourself. Find the inner spark in you that activates you to get up from where you are and wash those dishes. Start knocking things off your list of things you beed to do one by one and you will notice that your world will become that much more managable. Do one thing at a time at first and then eventually you can start making lists of things you need to do to make your life better. I hope this inspires you to get healthy and become who you were when you were younger. That's what I did. 😊

I see you are going to school again too. That's awesome! When you lose that weight, your back is going to feel much better. When you get down to 135, 150lbs, I bet that back pain pretty much goes away because you will have more than 100lbs. of less stress for your back to bare.

Good luck on your journey!

Just keep doing your own journey. Other people get caught up in their own lives. But, why don’t you send out a text and wish someone a good morning. At least open the door to an occasional communication.

An interesting article on NEAT (I'd never heard of it either!) https://ultimateperformance.com/articles/5-proven-ways-to-boost-fat-loss-with-neat/

@Discpain, what works for one person may not work for another. FS is a great place for a "lifelong learner" (like you seem to be) to get support, information, and ideas. We're about the same age and, probably, have similar weight-loss strategies, and health ideas have really changed over our lifetimes. Feel free to message me privately if you're more comfortable discussing approaches that way. It's never too late for improvement!

I have been on the losing weight journey so many times, also. I hear the resignation and disappointment in your post. Focusing on the negative amplifies it and makes it seem like EVERYTHING is wrong and bad. What I have done to overcome that spiral of catastrophizing is to set an alarm and every day it goes off, I make a list of the things I have that I am grateful for. It is hard at first, because I had such a habit formed of focusing on what I didn't have that I desperately wanted. Just try it for a week and see if it makes any improvement to your emotional state.

You're newly-available via text (a "virgin" all over again - ow 'bout that!), you may not be "on the radar" of those texting people. I agree with the suggestion to text a few people as an "I'm out here now!" announcement.

Welcome! I too am an emotional eater and I've done the diet go-around many times. I've discovered a joy in adult coloring books when I need a mindless soothe or a crunchy celery stick to chomp when I want to chomp a person . Often on here we have different ways of eating (woe)and different coping techniques but despite that we all want to help each reach our goals . One meal at a time. One day at a time. We can do it!
