Chris1979's Journal, 29 Jun 10

Last night was fun. We went to Iron Hill Brewery. They got appetizers but all I had was one half of an egg roll. I got a hamburger w/o anything on it except some blue cheese and skipped the bun. I did have 2 glasses of red wine though. But at least I didn't go through 2 pitchers of beer like they did lol. "They" being Salem, his best friend, and his best friend's wife. Nobody got dessert. In fact when we got back to our house I gave Jen 5 Warm Delights brownies. Needed to get them out of the house!

Now Claudina (my sis-in-law) is like "Why did you get a hotel bring the dogs here we will just put newspaper down". So I told them to really think about it and let us know by the 3rd b/c that's the last day I can cancel the hotel w/o getting charged. I totally understand if they don't want us to bring the dogs b/c the last time Lily stayed over she nearly scratched a hole in their bathroom door trying to escape.

I have a lot of month end stuff to do for work so I will keep this journal entry short.

EDIT: I wanted to wait to be reimbursed before mentioning this site for a cool way to go out to eat for less. There is a company based out of Winter Park, Florida called MysteryGuestInc.com. If you sign up with them they will assign you to visit a restaurant or popular store (their rules prohibit me saying which ones) and then once you complete a survey about your experience, they will reimburse you w/ a gift card to that store or restaurant. It took me awhile to get reimbursed, let's say somewhere between a month and a month and a half? But where we got picked to go is one of our very favorite chain restaurants (no it was not PF Changs haha) and we had a great time. And now we have a giftcard to go there again for free!!!

THREE THINGS I'M GRATEFUL FOR TODAY:
1) Time with fun friends
2) Holiday weekend coming up
3) Less junk food in my house to tempt me!

Have a fabulous day! :)

I sounds like you guys had a wonderful dinner =) I totally understand about the Dog situation.... I would personally keep the hotel room and stay there to be on the safe side... I mean... Your dog's are like your children =) and its better to take extra caution then regret that you didnt listen to your gut and stay in the hotel... ANd Yes... I think we all are looking forward to the holiday weekend =) I took Friday off but I don't think My manager will alot me to skip work since everybody is soo dependent on me...

Half an eggroll, now that is some serious discipline. I love our dogs but it's such a pain to deal with them when you're trying to go away. My parents usually take ours, but I hate asking them every time. A few years ago we left one of our dogs--when we just had one, and she'd stayed at a kennel a bunch of times since she was a puppy--at a kennel. She got kennel cough, needed to stay overnight at the vet's and the whole thing ended up costing more than our short vacation. Our little dog has never been in a kennel and I feel like she would be shaking in fear the whole time. I'm sure she'd be ok but I worry. Then again, it's hard to relax when you're worried about the dogs and chasing them around the whole time. Ugh.

It's true; it is a pain when you want to go away. I just want to take them everywhere I go! But I'm a pushover and my dogs are a bit spoiled so it's tough. I can't bear to put Howie (my rescued dog) in a kennel. He has seizures and so many other issues I just feel like it would be cruel. But I don't want to impose on my family either. Sigh. I have no idea what I'm going to do when we go to the Bahamas for our wedding. Hopefully by then I will be able to find someone to stay at the house w/ them.

Wheres the Iron Hill Brewery - never heard of it. Anyway, sounds like you did pretty good with your dinner - I always see blue cheese on burger menus but never gotten it - maybe next time I'll try. As far as your baking goes.... I have the day off tomorrow and was thinking about doing some baking with my girls, but then its in the house... not such a good thing! Maybe I can still have them do it, but bring it over to my inlaws - FIL gets out of the hospital today! Have a good one!!!

thanks for the websites for the coupons!! I bookmarked them last night but still had no time to peruse. One baby step at a time I suppose!!! I hear you about the dogs. I think you need a dogsitter for the pups while you are in the Bahamas. I hope you can find someone to do that!!!

Most of the Iron Hill locations are in PA... the only one I see in NJ is in Maple Shade. They have really good food though. And lots of healthy options. A whole section of their menu is for healthy eaters. :)

I'm signed up (for the MysteryGuestInc.com), and waiting for the call! I hope it doesn't conflict with the other one I do, though I haven't heard from them in forever....

That sounds like a great website to get hooked up with. Is it all over the states or just in one area? I know what you mean about pets. It is hard to go away when you have to worry about them. Pets and kids...it's all the same lol
