Planning my meals out for tomorrow and finding that it is really hard to get a ton of protein. I added a protein shake and almonds to the mix. And I’ll be only eating the chicken and vegetables out of my steamer, so my carbs will be off again, but when I really start rolling on this diet I won’t be eating the protein bar. And that is a one of my protein related snacks. I need a cheap switch to replace that protein. Any suggestions on cheap, non meat proteins to mix in?

It may not seem cheap, but when broken down to $ vs servings its affordable imo... I can suggest protein powder for your shakes. In my bullet, I blend protein powder, almond milk, berries. The protein powder I use is 24 grams of clean protein per scoop and only 4 grams of carbs.

Are you opposed to fish? There are great choices in fish that are high in protein. Greek yogurt is a good choice as long as the sugars are low. Eggs! Cottage cheese!

The terrible thing is I cannot eat fish. I’m repulsed by it. Cottage cheese is definitely something I can add. And I do have protein powder. All natural whey protein. Did my research and found something highly rated.

I have become addicted to tofu. TodayI made spaghetti sauce with half theusual meat and the other half tofu. BF didnt even notice the difference. Sautéed it till brownish and edges sort of crispy and serve with a vegetable mix. Marinade and add to salad. Mix into your scrambled eggs. Soft tofu can go into deserts. Check out the internet- Google is your friend.

Boiled eggs, tuna (but that may not be your thing), burgers. I usually have all three on hand for any protein emergency. If you do not like canned tuna, maybe chicken for quick salads. What is your goal. To have half of your calories come from protein?

If you decide to try tofu be sure to read up on it a bit. Like most things, it has a downside. Just do a little reading up on it before you decide to eat lots of it.

I am not vegan or vegetarian but do limit the amount of animal protein in my diet. I have been doing some tofu for the protein. The key for me is not to think of it as a replacement for animal protein. Search out new recipes I like to scramnle up a few days worth , add a little greek yogurt, turmeric, chopped mix peppers, onion, garlic. Warmed and wrapped in a flat out with fresh spinach. easy fast. breakfast or lunch. my nutritionist last week suggested tempeh as something else i might want to try since it has more protein than tofu. legumes and beans also are good options.

Eggs, as already mentioned. And if you don't mind egg substitute ( sounds gross typing it)... I use the great value brand and can get 20 g protein for 100 calories. It's not bad. I put a little salt and pepper and sometimes a sprinkle of cheese.
