KITCH!'s Journal, 03 Jan 19

Christmas tree in garden, decorations away. Several bad things removed from the living room. Including two unopened advent calendars, two tins of quality type street choc’s and assorted sugar delivery devices. I’ve hate Christmas for this! I’ve done my best to avoid and now time to get back on track. Our issue is portion size and hidden sugar so getting these things out of the way will help. Our son is a calorie counter, not bad for an 11 year old and our daughter needs to optimise for a pending operation this year on her back (scoliosis). My wife and I want to be around for them so there’s my motivation. I’ve just done a year booze free for charity (raised £1500 + http://www.justgiving.com/David-Kitchenham) and have not started drinking again so that’s on my side too! Joined a gym but have had a chest infection so not been able to start that yet!

Wow that's seriously impressive.

I've found out in all my label reading that if you really want to avoid hidden sugar you need lots of time to make your own food. It's a real struggle when you have so many things to do but it's almost impossible to buy pre made sauces with no sugar not to mention all the preservatives etc. Did you crave drinking ever?

I only just seen your reply. I struggled for 3 months. Fridays etc but now I’m smashing my second January laughing at my friends who have conceded after 4/5 days! I’ve a bottle of wine in the fridge that’s been there since 2017!

That's great! I did dry January once but it just made me miss it. I quite enjoy a drink though but when I did keto I didn't drink for months and didn't miss it, nor did my wallet.
