it's best not to think of it as a large goal...break it down into manageable pieces...if you were to build a house from scratch, that would be an enourmous task and pretty daunting. but if you said, ok this week, i'll lay the foundation. next week, i'll build the frame, so on and so forth, it wouldn't seem so bad. same for weight loss...rather then thinking "i weigh x lbs, i need to lose y lbs, it's too bad, it'll never happen, yada yada yada", think in terms of "this month, i'm going to lose 5 lbs. next month i'm going to lose 5 lbs"...losing 5 lbs doesn't seem quite so daunting and gives you a manageable challenge to reach
