Ok- odd question- do you think women are less likely to have someone comment about their weight loss then men ? I have lost about 15 pounds and definitely feel like I look slimmer but not a single person ( other than my husband) has noticed. Or perhaps they have noticed but not commented. My husband says it’s just because I am a woman. He lost a similar amount of weight last year and had tons of people commenting that he lost weight. I am not getting fitter for anyone other than me - but still find it a bit surprising.

I have been going through the same I have lost 50lbs and not one person has commented other than my husband (who knows I'm trying to lose) I wonder if perhaps people are afraid to comment and offend the person by insinuating that they were fat before and look better now? Perhaps they think women might be more sensitive to comments about our appearance. I'm not saying that is it but it's what I think it could be because I'm going through the exact same thing as you.

Interesting🤔 for me the minute I lost 10 pounds, I started getting comments. Yesterday, Teo people did t recognized me, like literally were surprised it was me. Now that I’ve lost 35 pounds and also changed my hair from black to blonde 😉I definitely get lots of comments. I do have a friend who lost a lot of weight and she didn’t get the same reaction 🤨

I don’t think so. I’m male, and I have lost 15 lbs, and only heard comments from people who knew I was trying to lose weight. A few years back I had gone on an intense diet, and lost 30lbs in three months. I had a woman I worked with every day comment negatively on my weight. She told me I was getting too fat. I said, “what are you talking about? I’ve lost 30lbs.” She laughed and said, “From where?” People don’t pay as much attention as you’d think. But there’s also jealousy to contend with. A couple weeks ago, I stepped on the scale I had lost 10lbs. I was excited, and rather proud of myself. I was happy to see all the sacrifices paying off. I boasted about it to a colleague who I have a friendly relationship with, and she snapped back angrily, “It’s just water weight.” I told this story to a close friend who talks about losing weight, but doesn’t put in the work, and her response was, “Well, it’s true, isn’t it?” Some people don’t like to see good things happening for the people around them.

I lost 32 pounds, and no one except for my spouse said something. People are funny sometimes.

Thank you Nikki and Chapelofease that's horrible and I'm sorry you've had to go through that negativity.

Doesn’t matter to me male/female, if I see weight loss results I’ll say something every time 💪🏼😉👊🏻

And for what it’s worth, you all are ROCKSTARS, we don’t need to be noticed to feel great about ourselves, we know what we accomplished and that is all that counts in my eyes 😉🙏🏼

My neighbour has lost 60 pounds and she gets compliments about it. I have lost 40 pounds and no one notices. I think it is because I am a tall and big person and losing 40 pounds is not that noticeable yet. Once I hit the 100 pound mark it will show....ha ha ha. Being healthier means more to me than others opinions.

Very interesting to read all the comments. Sounds like lots of similar responses which I wasn’t expecting. Congrats to everyone on here doing their best to work towards their goals. Sorry to hear about the negativity from others.

I feel often people dont comment on weight loss just so they aren’t percieved as rude, as some people may take it the wrong way. Congrats on the 15 :)

I feel like women are perceived as much more sensitive, and also seem to be the bulk of sufferers from eating disorders. There have been plenty of times I’ve said nothing to women, either because it’s drastic and they actually look unhealthy, or because I suspect it could be an eating disorder. On another note, even if someone was quite large before and I can see they’ve lost weight, I want to praise but not to the extent of making them feel some subconscious validation that being skinny is the only positive thing about them.... that’s getting in deep, but can certainly be the case 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can lose 20 lbs or gain 20 lbs and no one says a thing. 1 lb over 20 everyone notices lol

Strange & interesting. If I notice I compliment then ask how since always curious what's working for them. The gender of person isn't a factor for me.

I lost 45 lbs and very few people have commented . Maybe they aren’t sure how I would take it if they commented
