I found the motivation to return to the College gym yesterday, early morning. It was quite crowded with young and thin students, so trying not to feel too self-conscious about it all. One of them kept shooting me not-at-all-welcoming looks throughout the session, but I am older, fatter and entirely unphased by that sort of behaviour. There was another half hour of cardio split across the same 3 machines led to fitbit thinking I'd burnt about 3200 calories yesterday. Not entirely convinced by that number.
One thing I did notice was that I felt rather light-headed for the rest of the day, which makes me wonder if I was trying too hard. Still, at present it feels like progress so all I need do now is haul myself in there on Sunday morning so that I continue to embed the exercise/gym habit. The rest of Sunday will be spent visiting the elderly relative in the care home an hours drive away, which I am really not looking forward to again.
