There is a lot of conflicting information out there regarding fitness and health. One example is water. My prescribed water intake varies between 2 and 6 liters per day. Every expert sounds convincing. No wonder there are so many people who attempt to profit out of this industry. What would be a good target for a 45 yo male, 100 kg, wants to maintain muscle and reduce body fat, does a little weights and cardio every day, does a lot of cardio and weights weekends, calorie intake varies between 2000 and 3000 a day calorie output varies between 3500 and 4500 per day.

I'm not an expert but if you are having a couple of cups of coffee and tea per day, I don't think you would need more than 3 litres of water a day...some days even 2 litres should be ok..It's a fallacy that you need a "ridiculous" amount of water..it just washes away your electrolytes and puts an unnecessary burden on your kidneys. I'm sure you will get many more comments regarding your question. Please note: I am not a Doctor and what I might say here on Fatsecret is purely my opinion and personal experience. Feel free to make your own personal decision or seek medical advice. Have a healthy and happy day!

Thanks Femme! People who live it are more helpful than people who theorize about it.
