slsmitty's Journal, 16 May 18

I think I need a nutritionist. Someone to tell me what to eat every day, with recipes included. However, the plan needs to take into account that my husband eats more then I though he's ok with low/no carb however my daughters are growing girls and need the carbs along with a balanced diet. Plus one can't/won't eat fish and the other truly doesn't like meat but will eat it if pushed. Any thoughts or suggestions? I don't really have the funds to go to a nutritionist so any reliable, safe, free websites that can help me plan a weekly menu would be great.
Thanks!

eMeals.com does a weekly menu for two or families, and you can pick your menu style, it has a shopping list and cooking instructions.

you don’t need to spend money on a nutritionist. Just pick foods you want to eat that are healthy. Tons of free info/sites all over the web

https://www.marthastewart.com/912287/grocery-bag This one is pretty good, though sometimes a little fancy for my liking. They give you an option daily, so you can choose what best suits your family and then make changes as necessary for diet restrictions.

deadpool2345 I know what I like to eat but with all the do it would be easier for me if someone who knew what I needed made up a weekly meal plan, with shopping list and recipes instead of me having to spend time doing it myself. emeals looks good. Checking out marthastewart next.

Have them all make a list of what they will eat and see where they converge.

Maybe I am old but my thought was never to run a restaurant. My boys are on their own now and eat a variety of foods because I didn't cater to their every whim. My youngest one (now 35) says to his friends, that dinner was served, if he didn't like the meal, he made his own. After a while of eating PB&J, he started to eat everything and now has a fantastic sense of food.

Hello Fresh lets you download their recipes with the instructions and the shopping list, so you can pick and choose. I got the service for a couple of weeks, but it was expensive. When my daughters were younger, those "meals for 4" really worked, because between my husband and me, we ate 2.5 meals, and then the girls would each get 3/4. Good luck - I did a web search for "1200 calorie diet with shopping list" and got quite a few hits when I was planning my meals. A glass of milk or soda, or a loaf of bread with butter available each meal will cover any gaps in calories that the others need if they need carbs.

Well, instead of a nutritionist I go to a bariatric medicine doctor. I just began 2 weeks ago and lost 7 pounds. 60 to go. I go every two weeks for 40$ every 2 weeks. 80$ is the orientation and explaining the diet etc. She also gives me medication, natural and an injection natural also to burn fat and suppress appetite, called MIC. The diet is balanced, oatmeal, cornflakes, skim milk and fruit for breakfast. Protein grilled, boiled, with tomatoes, and salad and veggies. And another meal, is soup, yogurt, jello, cottage cheese, or more protein with veggies. Bread, potatoes, yams, rice occasionally maybe twice a week the most, based on low glycimic index, whole grain, etc. What I do is I prepare a carb for my husband, rice whatever and the rest diet. Dessert frozen yogurt, with strawberries or a fruit compote. It's not easy believe me, sometimes I get hungry, but is tolerable. Exercise required which I haven't done at all. This is my reality, I wanted to share hope it helps and gives you an idea.i love it because losing weight medically makes me feel very strong and sure about it. Shop around, ask, this doctors are only popular amongst fat people, so is hard to know about them .good luck ❤❤

Extra reality, be prepared to buy in bulk chicken, fish, shrimps, lean beef, eggs, etc. And fresh salad and fresh or frozen veggies. A lot of yogurt, spices, special k, fruits like bananas, grapes and strawberries. It's expensive, it's a lot of prep and home cooking, a lot of perseverance and patience and a lot of diet attitude. It's a long journey, with many hours of anger, sadness and boredom even anxiety. But with the right mental tools, tricks and support it has to be possible. Others do it and succeed, losing sometimes hundreds of pounds, I can too and so do you. Okay.

I am right there with you! After 10 years in the navy and having to eat what was made I have lost all sense of thinking about what to eat.

I struggle too because I have some super picky eaters, so it's hard to find healthy meals that we all enjoy. My kids are older, so it's just become one of those "you'll eat what I make, or you can make something else" situations. I do make myself zucchini noodles when we have pasta and cauliflower rice instead of regular rice, which is fairly easy and my family can enjoy their pasta or rice and I feel good about making myself a healthier option. I look a lot on Pinterest too for recipes and meal ideas and have had some luck. Just keep working at it and researching and you'll find things that work for you.

Gotcha. I think the delivery services like “Hello Fresh” is supposed to be good, looks that way from the commercials, & I think their meal prep plans are all free on their website as well.
